Background of the Study
Social media has transformed political journalism, offering platforms for real-time news dissemination, citizen engagement, and opinion shaping. In Yola South Local Government Area (LGA), Adamawa State, social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp have become critical tools for political journalists. These platforms enable journalists to reach wider audiences, interact with the public, and report on political developments. However, the rise of social media also presents challenges, including the spread of fake news, echo chambers, and ethical dilemmas. Studies by Ahmed and Musa (2023) emphasize that while social media democratizes information, it also requires journalists to adapt to new dynamics and maintain credibility.
